Zhang Chi

Zhang Chi studied with Li Qihua, professor of Xi’an Conservatory of Music and He Xian, professor of violin at Shanghai Conservatory of Music in his early years. In 2005, he participated in the Guangdong International Summer Music Festival, where he had the chance to perform with Chantal Juillet, Akiko Suwanai, Jia Hongguang (assistant concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra) and Yu Long (Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra).
In 2009, Zhang Chi entered Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and studied under Professor Zuo Jun, the Head of Violin Studies. He currently holds a Bachelors degree from the conservatory. Zhang Chi has vast experience in performing - having performed with The Three Tenors in Singapore and National Hsinchu University of Education in Taiwan. In 2010, he clinched the Best Performer award in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concerto Competition. A year later, he participated in the world-renowned International Houston Music Festival, and performed with Frank Huang, concertmaster of the Houston Symphony.
Currently, he is a part-time instructor at Kids’ Philharmonic Orchestra with the Youth Orchestra.
