Violin Instructor

Siew Xuan Ying (born 2008) is a Singaporean violinist whose musical journey began at the age of two. ​ At fourteen, Xuan Ying was admitted into the Young Artist Program at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM), National University of Singapore, and by sixteen, she had progressed into the Conservatory’s Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree Programme. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies under Associate Professor Zuo Jun, Head of Violin Studies.

n 2019, Xuan Ying attained the Music Performance Diploma (ATCL) from Trinity College London. She is a multi-time prizewinner at international music competitions and festivals, including the Vienna Virtuoso Festival International Music Competition and the Singapore Raffles International Music Festival, where she has received top prizes and outstanding performance awards across multiple categories.

Her solo appearances include performances with several orchestras, notably with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra and Danube Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with KPO in June 2025. She later performed Vieuxtemps’ Violin Concerto No. 5 with the KPO Youth Orchestra in January 2026 and was most recently featured as a soloist with the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Ensemble.

Beyond her solo work, Xuan Ying is the violinist of the Vértice Quartet at YSTCM. The quartet participated in the Advanced Quartet Programme at the Singapore Chamber Festival 2026, working with Kirsten Docter, Sandy Yamamoto, Jonathan Ong, and members of the Concordia Quartet, and also attended a masterclass with Paul Cassidy of the Brodsky Quartet. Her chamber music achievements further include a violin duet that won Gold with Honours and placed in the top three overall at the International Solo and Ensemble Competition 2026.

Xuan Ying has further refined her artistry through masterclasses with distinguished violinists, including multiple sessions with Professor Dora Schwarzberg in Vienna.
