Koh Kai Jie
An emerging Singaporean conductor and pianist, Kai Jie Koh is the Principal Conductor of Kids’ Philharmonic@sg.
His performance with a Yong Siew Toh (YST) Conservatory chamber orchestra in 2019 was lauded by music reviewer Dr Marc Rochester, who was “deeply impressed with both the quality of playing […] and [his] insightful interpretation”.
Kai Jie has conducted numerous prominent orchestras, including Singapore Symphony Orchestra (in masterclass), Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, and YST Conservatory Orchestra.
Also an accomplished pianist, Kai Jie won 1st prize in the YST Conservatory Concerto Competition (Piano) in 2020 and 2nd prize in the National Piano and Violin Competition (Senior) in 2013. Kai Jie attained degrees in conducting and piano at YST Conservatory, studying with conductor Jason Lai and pianist Albert Tiu.
In addition, he has also received guidance from prominent conductors Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Tomáš Netopil, Andrew Litton, Otto Tausk, Joshua Tan, Douglas Bostock and Tze Law Chan.
