
Zhao Xiao Dan
A graduate from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, Zhao Xiao Dan has attained a Bachelor’s Degree of Music under a full scholarship majoring in Oboe and Piano. In his time at YST, Zhao has received an honourable mention in chamber music and solo recitals. The principal oboist of YST Symphony Orchestra, Zhao has also performed on various occasions as a freelance musician for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, and various other orchestras around the region.
Zhao has also attained a Performance Diploma from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with full scholarships, studying under the London Symphony Orchestra’s principal oboist and the founder of the London Virtuosi, Anthony Camden.
In addition, Zhao has been invited to be the principal oboist for the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra from 2009 to 2011, performing in various cities such as Hong Kong, Australia and Macao. He is now under invitation to attend the Youth Music Culture Programme, organised by none other than world-famous musician Yo-Yo Ma.
