
Zhang Chi (张驰)

Zhang Chi began his violin studies at the age of six in Xi’an, China. He later studied with Li Qihua, professor of Xi’an Conservatory of Music and He Xian, professor of violin at Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 2005, he participated in the Guangdong International Summer Music Festival, where he had the chance to perform with violinists, including Chantal Juillet, Akiko Suwanai, Jia Hongguang (assistant concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra) and Yu Long (Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra).
In 2009, Zhang Chi entered Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with a full scholarship, and studied under Professor Zuo Jun, the Head of Violin Studies. He is currently a holder of a Graduate Diploma from the conservatory. Zhang Chi has vast experience in performing. He was involved in the performance of The Three Tenors in Singapore and National Hsinchu University of Education in Taiwan. In 2010, he clenched the Best Performer award in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concerto Competition. A year later, he participated in the world-renowned International Houston Music Festival, and performed with Frank Huang, concertmaster of the Houston Symphony.
Currently, he is the Concertmaster and full-time instructor at Kids’ Philharmonic Orchestra.
