Korea Music & Culture Exchange,

10-16 June 2020

The Korea Music and Culture Exchange is the first part of our collaboration with Korea's Gyeongnam Educators Philharmonic Orchestra and their Youth Orchestra. This overseas music and cultural exchange will allow our young musicians to get acquainted with different cultures, musical traditions, languages, teaching approaches, but also with challenging situations. These experiences will not only have positive effects on each student's development as a musician but also as an individual, having to deal with many new and unknown factors during the stay abroad.

Together with Gyeongnam Educators Symphony Orchestra and Gyeongnam Educators Youth Orchestra, Kids' Philharmonic@sg will be putting up a concert for the Korean community at the 1600-seat Seongsan Art Hall in Changwon City. This concert provides an opportunity not only to showcase our orchestra but also promote Singaporean artistry to the music community and the general public of Korea. We will be playing the composition of Cultural Medallion recipient, Mr Phoon Yew Tien, at this concert. Also, our violin soloist for this trip is our very own Chloe Chua, 1st Prize Winner of the prestigious Menuhin Competition 2018 (Junior Division) which is widely recognized as the world's leading competition for violinists under the age of 16. We are also very honoured to have Mr Phoon and Mr Yin Ke, Chloe's teacher to accompany us on this trip.

After this overseas exchange, we will likewise be hosting the Korean orchestras in Singapore and put up a concert for the general public and music community in Singapore.
