Asyahari Hussaini

Asyahari is the Orchestra Manager for kids’ Philharmonic @ sg responsible for orchestral programming and coordination. Music has been a long-running passion for Asyahari. He started out learning the cello in his primary school days at Jin Tai-Qifa Primary and was also part of the Choir and Angklung Ensemble. His passion for music grew stronger and continued his music education in New Town Secondary School under the tutelage of Mr Patrick Neo as trombonist in 2010. Asyahari held leadership positions responsible for ensuring high quality of music and organization of the band.

Since 2011, he was also an active member of the National Institute of Education Symphonic Band under conductors Mr Ian Lum, Associate Professor Ho Hwee Leong and Dr Leonard Tan. Asyahari was also guest player with various orchestras and bands like the Emmanuel Symphony Orchestra, MacPherson Philharmonic Orchestra and Republic Polytechnic Wind Symphony. In the choral scene, Asyahari regularly sings with the Singapore Lyric opera as a Tenor.

In 2015, Asyahari was also part of OKTO Channel’s documentary TV series “Project Symphony” led by Associate Professor Jason Lai. The series focuses on sharing with viewers about musicians from all walks of life and what they do in an orchestra. The orchestra also premiered Huang Ding Chao’s “Stars & Crescent, for Orchestra & Mixed Ethnic Instruments”.

A student of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’s Diploma in Music Teaching, Asyahari learns first study (Trombone) under Mr Damian Patti, Associate Principal Trombonist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Music Pedagogy under Dr Wong Joon Hwang (NIE), Jacques Dalcroze movement in music under Mr Gerald Leow and NAFA’s Wind Orchestra under Head of Winds, Mr Joost Flach. Asyahari also participates in “Woodlands Young Conductors Workshop” organized and led by Mr Muhamad Yusri.

Asyahari was the Assistant Conductor for his Alma Mater, New Town Secondary School, responsible for teaching the junior band, brass tutorship, leadership development and organizes student development activities with the teachers in-charge. He is also the band tutor for St Gabriel Primary School Brass Band and North Vista Secondary School Symphonic Band. 

During his free time, Asyahari enjoy gathering with his friends to talk about world issues and attend Singapore Model United Nations, Singapore Model Parliament and Singapore Model Cabinet.
